Fitness Friday with Brooke Burke!

Brooke Burke and her BFF and hairdresser at the 2011 SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk in Manhattan Beach, California.

Hey SKECHERS Fans, it’s that busy time of year again, with lots of parties, lots of food and hardly any time! This holiday season, I’m all about working out more to balance the decadence of the holiday festivities. Try to knock out your workouts in the morning so you have the rest of your day for family and fun, energized for all the celebrating ahead! I just heard a medical study that Americans put on seven lbs. between Thanksgiving and New Years, and they only take off four lbs. of it in the new year – my goal is to stay fit and defy the odds!

With a hectic work schedule and busy household, it’s not always easy to make time for yourself, let alone the gym. Bring A-List Trainer, Greg Joujon-Roche into the privacy of your own home – let’s do it together this year, you and me. I promise I can change your body.

Do you have a good friend that will hold you accountable for your workouts, but keep you laughing at the same time? Having a workout buddy really helps to keep you on track and stay motivated. It’s great to watch yourself and your loved ones reach their fitness goals.

I know a lot of you are waiting until January 1st to start your new fitness regimen, but who needs New Year’s Resolutions? Let’s start today! Check out my post on my website ModernMom.com called Screw New Year’s Resolutions.

Thanks SKECHERS for letting me host Fitness Friday, can’t wait to see what 2012 holds.

Mark Cuban, a SKECHERS GOrun Fanatic?

Mark Cuban seems to be the newest and most excited fan of SKECHERS® GOrun.   SKECHERS® GOrun works to elevate the natural running experience, allowing runners to interact with and respond to practically any surface.  SKECHERS GOrun features an efficient mid-foot strike design and GOimpulse sensors for enhanced sensory feedback.

According to Mark, “If you can’t get the best performance ever out of these shoes, you shouldn’t be running.”

Go the Extra Mile for Kids at the SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk

SKECHERS started the SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk three years ago to raise funds for The Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization devoted to improving the lives of children with special needs. In our South Bay community, there are hundreds of children who are living with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Autism as well as many other developmental disabilities and physical limitations. The focus of the walk expanded in our first year as so many schools faced serious budget cuts, and continue to face economic hardships that are impacting our kids’ educations.

We are committed to supporting children with special needs and education.  We believe that it is our obligation to provide assistance to wonderful organizations like The Friendship Circle, which touches the hearts of so many – as well as help our schools during these tough times.

We have already raised more than $500,000 – thanks to many across our community, the efforts of our generous sponsors including presenting sponsor KIDS FOOT LOCKER, and the support of local and national businesses. This is an amazing start, but when you think about the approximately 57,000 kids in our schools, and all our many children with special needs, it isn’t enough. We can do so much more if we come together! Fitness expert Denise Austin, the iconic Tommy Lasorda and the lovely Brooke Burke will all be helping us kick off the walk. And now we are calling upon you, and asking you to call upon your family and friends so we can make miracles happen for thousands of deserving children.

Please join us at the Manhattan Beach Pier on Sunday, October 30 for a terrific time and let’s make even bigger strides in helping our children. If you can’t attend this year’s event, but want to be there in spirit, you can still go the extra mile for our kids by becoming a Virtual Walker: just register online as an Individual, and select ‘Virtual’ from the options listed. Visit the official SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk site for more information on how to get involved, or become a fan of the SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk Facebook page for the latest news and updates for this incredible event. See you there!

SKECHERS Goes the Extra Mile for our Kids!

SKECHERS invites the South Bay community to participate in the third annual SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk on Sunday, October 30, 2011! The 3.4-mile walk will travel from the Manhattan Beach Pier in Manhattan Beach, California, to the Hermosa Beach Pier and back – and will raise important funds for South Bay education foundations and The Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization that assists children with special needs and their families through one-on-one peer mentoring and social recreational programming.

Individuals, families, team leaders and team members can register online for $25. Registration at the Manhattan Beach Pier on the day of the event is $30, and will be open from 8:00 am until 9:45 am. All registered walk participants will also receive a commemorative SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk T-shirt and complimentary water and drinks will be provided along the walk route.

SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk donation funds will directly benefit The Friendship Circle and the education foundations of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Palos Verdes, and Torrance.

Interested in registering for the walk or making a donation? Visit the official SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk website and find out how you can join the effort!
