BOBS: SUMMER OF GIVING

As we reach our latest BOBS donation milestone (approximately 14 million pairs!) we’re looking back on all the incredible memories we’ve made with kids through our events… and this summer was one of our best. We traveled across the United States and Canada with tens of thousands of new shoes in tow, and got to enjoy lots of young smiles and great moments along the way. Here are a few of the many BOBS donation events we’ve loved participating in this season! You can also help make a difference and shop for BOBS shoes, which not only supports kids in need, but also helps save animals’ lives.

BOBS took part in an amazing three-day event at Reno Rodeo, a popular regional sporting event that supports the Reno/Sparks economy. Skechers donated 26,000 pairs of BOBS to children in need at the event, which featured a special visit with Miss Reno Rodeo 2016 and decorating stations for kids to personalize their new shoes!

Visits with the Columbus Clippers mascots and shoe decorating stations added to the fun!

SKECHERS CELEBRATES EARTH DAY

Nearly 25 years ago, Skechers was born in a beautiful place (on a beach house overlooking the ocean) so it’s safe to say that we love the great outdoors. It’s one of the many reasons we take Earth Day to heart. This day always inspires and empowers us to realize the many ways we can help the world.

This year, we wanted to celebrate how even the smallest actions can make a big difference. We took our beloved BOBS Sailboat alpargatas on a journey to find three simple ways to make the world beautiful.

START A GARDEN

GARDEN 1

Whether you have a huge yard or a tiny balcony, a garden is always a lovely way to help the world and create beauty in your home. Try planting your own vegetables this season as a new spring project, or a few bright flowers to brighten up your space. Live in a low water region? The drier weather has introduced a number of gorgeous flora to people’s landscapes and are making drought-tolerant flowers, succulents and grasses more popular than ever.

TIDY UP THE BEACH

BEACH 2

Those of us who visit the beach (or the lucky few who live there) know how beautiful it can be, and how much of an eye sore it is when garbage is left on it. But even worse is the impact of this trash, which can choke and entangle sea animals, wreck our oceans, contaminate the seafood we eat and more.

If you’re heading to the sand this season, take 10 minutes out of your beach day to pick up a bag of trash. It’s a quick task that everyone can do to make a huge difference.

RIDE A BIKEIMG_0712

Pull out your trusty old bike, dust it off and ride it to work! It’s a great alternative to your gas guzzler – not just for helping the earth, but also for your physical and emotional well-being. Long commute? Make it a weekend thing with friends. Cruise over to your favorite brunch spot together: it’ll amaze you how much more of the world you’ll see when you’re not behind the wheel.

Last but not least are the BOBS Sailboat alpargatas we took on our journey… we were overjoyed to hear how eco-friendly our pair was (made of hemp, a renewable resource that uses less watering, less land and is better on the environment than cotton). And even better, every purchase of BOBS means that Skechers can help save the lives of dogs and cats as well as support kids in need – a great way to make the world even greater.

How are you helping earth every day? Share your tips in the comments!

DANIELLE BRADBERY JOINS BOBS FOR HOLIDAY GIVING

2015 has been another incredible year for BOBS – with 68,000 pairs of new shoes donated this year at events in the United States and Canada, along with more than two million pairs around the world! We’ve given nearly 13 million pairs to kids worldwide since the BOBS charity program started in 2011, which brings us so much joy. And this holiday season was no different, with two big events in Texas and California that celebrated the season with nearly 5000 pairs of new shoes for kids in need.

SKECHERS kicked off the holidays in star-studded style: partnering with The Voice winner Danielle Bradbery, who helped us hand out new shoes to kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston! From there, we traveled to Ontario, California to spread some holiday cheer… with a little help from Rick Lozano of FOX 11 News, we partnered with his Christmas Cheer All Year organization to donate more than 3000 pairs of shoes to local kids.

We are so thrilled to celebrate the spirit of giving, both through the holidays and beyond. Inspired and want to take part? Check out our latest BOBS styles here – every pair purchased means more shoes for kids in need.

BOBS GIVES 40,000+ PAIRS TO BACK-TO-SCHOOL KIDS

BOBS launched the back-to-school season with its very own cross-country tour!

We had a great time trekking east and west this fall to give more than 40,000 pairs of new shoes to students in need – partnering with some leading retailers and charities to help school districts and organizations in cities like Baltimore, Philadelphia, Lancaster PA, San Jose, Coeur d’Alene, Spokane and beyond. It was so rewarding and fun to see thousands of kids loving their new shoes and personalizing them at our decorating stations. Check out the pics below!

Thanks for your huge support, and for continuing to help so many kids in need.

BOBS GIVES AT CINCY SPORTS FEST

We’re thrilled to share that BOBS has passed the 12-million-pair mark for new shoes donated in the US and around the world – and we’re so excited to see our shoes lifting so many kids’ spirits around the globe.

Our latest stop: Cincy Sports Fest in Covington, Kentucky, where we partnered with Shoe Carnival and K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers to donate more than 1,200 pairs of BOBS to local kids in need. It was a great day for baseball fans: with legendary Pete Rose on-hand to sign autographs, and Cincinnati’s Florence Freedom mascots helping the kids paint their new shoes at decorating stations. Thanks to CEI Sports Inc. and the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission, the families also enjoyed complimentary passes to the baseball convention, along with the Covington Bicentennial Celebration and ferris wheel.

We’re so excited to share every new season of BOBS, knowing that each new collection means more shoes for you and more chances for all of us to give shoes to kids everywhere. Thanks for all of your help since BOBS started… here’s to the next million!

SPIRIT OF GIVING: BOBS HOLIDAY PARTY FOR LAS VEGAS CHILDREN

‘Tis the season to give… Skechers and Zappos got into the spirit with a holiday party and donation event for Las Vegas children in need.

The December event was in partnership with Variety Early Learning Center Las Vegas and K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, and was packed with holiday festivities that included 200 new pairs of BOBS shoes for boys and girls, decorating stations where they could customize their new shoes and holiday ornaments, and a surprise visit from Santa Claus who passed out toys to the kids!  What a great way to celebrate the holidays, and to give shoes that kids can enjoy all year long.

BOBS CELEBRATES: MORE THAN 10 MILLION NEW PAIRS DONATED

It’s wonderful when you can celebrate a milestone that supports kids around the world. Today is that day for us: since BOBS from Skechers started in 2011, we’ve officially donated more than 10 million pairs of new shoes to children in need.

Looking back at BOBS’ history, it’s thrilling and moving to absorb what an incredible impact the brand has had in just a few years. Many children have never had a pair of new shoes, or are wearing shoes that are much too small or too big for their feet. Now kids in more than 30 countries have new shoes because of your support: from boys and girls across America who gather at donation events for a pair, to children in Guatemala, Haiti, Uganda, the Philippines and beyond.

Thanks to our non-profit partners for making all of this possible, and to our retail partners for putting their stores and hearts behind BOBS in order to maximize our impact. And most of all, thanks to all of you for buying BOBS over the past few years: your generosity has made millions of children smile.

The giving continues. Let’s reach new milestones together with BOBS at skechers.com and in stores everywhere. Learn more about the BOBS story at bobsfromskechers.com and on Facebook.
