Skechers GObionic Named Editor’s Choice: Performance Footwear Line Receives Accolades from Runner’s World UK

SKECHERS USA, Inc., a global innovator of performance footwear, today announced that the new zero-drop Skechers GObionic ultra-minimal running line has been named “Editor’s Pick” in the October 2012 issue of Runner’s World UK.

Gear Up for National Nutrition Month in SKECHERS!

According to The Healthy Eating Guide, there are currently more than 25,000 fast food chains in the United States (an increase of more than 1,000% since 1970). Not only have the number of these establishments gone up in recent years, but the average serving size for burgers, fries and sodas have tripled since the 1970s, too.

With fast food chains (and adult obesity rates) on the rise, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics would like to offer some tips and educational resources to help “Get Your Plate in Shape” this month during its annual National Nutrition Month campaign.

Some of the organization’s nutritional tips include:

  • Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables
  • Eating more whole grains
  • Cutting your sodium intake
  • Controlling your portions

Aside from nutritional advice, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics also recommends that adults stay physically active by performing at least two hours and 30 minutes of activities that require moderate effort (e.g., brisk walking) each week.

My shoe is squeaking.  What can I do about it?
TSG: Try putting some talcum or baby powder into the interior of the shoe, and make sure you get powder down into the cracks.  Tip out any surplus powder before wearing. That should quiet the squeak.

When is Nothing… Something?

I recently got a pair of new athletic shoes – the men’s Shape-ups LIV by Skechers™ – and they really have something there. Or maybe they really have nothing. Let me explain.

Shape-ups LIV by SkechersI wear a size 14, and even the simplest shoes can weigh a lot in that size. But when I got my shoes, I thought maybe the box was empty at first. The shoes are ultra-lightweight. When I say that, I mean that even my size 14 soles only weigh 10 ounces each: they’re one of the lightest shoes I’ve ever worn.

But they really have a lot of features, even weighing nearly nothing like they do. For starters, they’re made of a lightweight, shock-absorbing Resalyte™ material. The upper is substantial and comfortable, the cushioning is very good for walking, running or training, and they look good too.

Walking in them is something as well – the SmartShoe™ design lets your foot find its most natural stride, and the articulated sole is super flexible and gives your feet gentle guidance so that you walk perfectly smooth without even thinking about it. My feet felt great wearing them.

I’ve tried some lightweight running shoes before, but Shape-ups LIV by Skechers™ is something entirely different, giving you all the support, cushioning and stability you need. That’s something. But all this comes in a shoe that weighs… pretty much nothing.
