SKECHERS Foundation and Tommy Lasorda Host Children with Special Needs at Dodger Stadium

SKECHERS Foundation, a SKECHERS organization designed to support families and communities in need, announced that it partnered with Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda to host a day at Dodger Stadium on August 1 for members of the Friendship Circle, an organization dedicated to nurturing and inspiring the special needs community. The event included 100 children with special needs and their families, and five children with special needs were given the opportunity to join Lasorda down on the field with the current Dodger players before the first pitch.

The Dodgers event launched a community-wide campaign for fourth annual SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk – a Nickelodeon-sponsored Southern California event that raises funds for The Friendship Circle and education. Lasorda has co-hosted the Walk since its launch in 2009 and will co-host the 2012 Walk on October 28.

The Friendship Circle has a special place in my heart. These kids give such joy and love, they can people’s lives. I know they’ve changed mine,” said Lasorda. “I’m so excited to take them to the place I love – and I can’t wait to be part of our next walk. The Pier to Pier Friendship Walk makes such a big difference for these kids every year, and for education too. I’d love for everyone at our games to join us and walk for our kids!”

“Going to a baseball game was one of my favorite memories as a kid – and there’s nothing like doing it with Tommy himself!” added Michael Greenberg, president of SKECHERS. “This is a day that these kids will cherish for the rest of their lives – and I’m so grateful to Tommy for helping us make this a reality, as well as all the years he’s hosted the Walk. It’s such a great way to tell baseball fans and our community about this event.”

An extension of the SKECHERS Foundation, the SKECHERS Pier to Pier Walk gathers donations for Friendship Circle projects such as teen mentorships, support groups and programs for children with special needs and their families, as well as equipment, salaries, and supporting materials for compromised schools. SKECHERS GORUN NAMED MOST INNOVATIVE: Official Shoe of Top U.S. Marathoner Meb Keflezighi Receives Multiple Accolades from Running Press

SKECHERS USA, Inc., a global leader in the footwear industry, today announced that its groundbreaking Skechers GOrun performance footwear received Most Innovative accolades from two major running magazines. The “2012 Spring Shoe Review” in the April issue of Competitor named Skechers GOrun the Editor’s Pick for Most Innovative new running shoe. And the May/June issue of Women’s Running declared Skechers GOrun a “Most Innovative Award Winner”.

Skechers GOrun

“After investing three years of research and development into Skechers GOrun, we’re honored that the serious running community is recognizing the design of our first performance shoe as pioneering in this technical and elite world,” began Michael Greenberg, president of SKECHERS. “In the months ahead, our new Skechers Performance Division will leverage these innovations as a foundation for an expanded collection of products that will meet the needs of athletes at various skill and ability levels across multiple sports and activities.”

Skechers GOrun is the official shoe of America’s top marathoner, Meb Keflezighi. Meb wore the shoes when setting new personal records as the first American to cross the finish line in the 2011 NYC Marathon and when winning the 2012 Houston Trials. Meb will once again be wearing Skechers GOrun footwear when we represents the United States on the world’s biggest stage in London this summer.

SKECHERS is building on its success in minimal running with launches this summer of Skechers GOrun ride – a running line with enhanced cushioning, Skechers GOtrain – a workout shoe built for added stability and control, and Skechers GObionic – a zero-drop ultra-minimal running shoe. With these new lines, the Skechers Performance Division will equip athletes from the track to the gym, with additional categories planned for the trail and golf course.

Designed by the Company’s Advanced Concepts Team with consultation by elite runners like Meb, Skechers GOrun promotes a mid-foot strike and features GOimpulse sensors for a flexible and responsive running experience. The minimalistic line has a low 4mm heel drop and with Resalyte(TM) cushioning weighs in at just 6.9 ounces (size 9 men’s) and 4.9 ounces (size 6 women’s). Skechers GOrun is available in sporting goods, department and specialty athletic stores, and SKECHERS stores around the world.

SKECHERS COMMITS TO FOURTH SUPER BOWL AD: Skechers Performance campaign will again feature adorable French Bulldog, Mr. Quiggly

SKECHERS USA, Inc. (NYSE: SKX), a global leader in the footwear industry, today announced that it has purchased advertising to air on CBS during the 2013 Super Bowl. The Company is in the planning stages of next year’s campaign, but did indicate it plans to promote Skechers Performance footwear and utilize the talents of Mr. Quiggly—the adorable French Bulldog who won hearts around the globe when he raced wearing doggy-sized Skechers GOrun shoes in the Company’s 2012 commercial.

“2012 was our third year at the Big Game and thanks to Mr. Quiggly, we ranked third in the viewer polls. The spot generated massive awareness for our Skechers GOrun product,” began Michael Greenberg, president of SKECHERS. “Next year we’ll be celebrating our second anniversary as a performance brand and we already have Mr. Quiggly booked and back in training for his triumphant return. We’re aiming for the No. 1 Super Bowl commercial this time.”

Skechers GOrun exploded into the serious running scene in November 2011 when elite marathoner Meb Keflezighi wore the shoes to set a new personal record as the first American to cross the finish line in the 2012 NYC Marathon. Since then, the running community has followed Meb’s story and embraced Skechers GOrun with Competitor and Women’s Running naming it the “Most Innovative” new running line for 2012.  Meb will be once again wearing Skechers GOrun footwear when he represents the United States on the world’s biggest stage in London this summer.

SKECHERS is building on this foundation of success in minimal running by expanding its Skechers Performance Division with launches this summer of Skechers GOrun Ride – a running line with enhanced cushioning, Skechers GOtrain – a workout shoe built for added stability and control, and Skechers GObionic, a zero-drop ultra-minimal running shoe. From the track to the gym, with additional categories planned for the trail and golf course, Skechers Performance will leverage technologies and innovations developed for Skechers GOrun to offer a variety of Skechers GO lines that meet the needs of athletes at every level and ability across multiple sports and activities.

SKECHERS Foundation Donates More Than $480,000 to Children with Special Needs and Education

The SKECHERS Foundation, an organization that was founded to provide families around the world with the necessities and skills to succeed in life, celebrated its most impactful SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk by donating $209,000 to the Friendship Circle for children with special needs and more than $280,000 to six Southern California education foundations. The donations were the largest made by the Foundation and were the result of dozens of corporate sponsors, including presenting sponsor Kids Foot Locker, and thousands of walkers who united for the SKECHERS Friendship Walk in October 2011.

SKECHERS president Michael Greenberg presents a $209,000 donation to the Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization dedicated to making a dramatic difference in the lives of children and young adults with special needs.

SKECHERS President Michael Greenberg expressed his gratitude during a formal check presentation ceremony on February 16 at SKECHERS’ corporate headquarters in Manhattan Beach: “Our sponsors have done something incredible – gathering our friends, families and neighbors so we can change the lives of our children. Because of them, our kids now have more opportunities than what would have been possible without this walk. And we’ve shown that we’re not dependent on our economy or our state’s budget to make a real impact. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve created here, and to be part of a community with such great love for our kids.”

The SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk is now the Southern California’s largest annual donor event for children with special needs and local schools. Along with the Friendship Circle, the funds will directly benefit Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Palos Verdes Peninsula and Torrance schools.

SKECHERS Presents Iraq War Veteran Troy Yocum with More Than $120,000 in Support of the Active Heroes Foundation

The SKECHERS Foundation presents a check for $122,285 to Troy Yocum for the Active Heroes charity foundation at the company's flagship store in Manhattan Beach, California.

SKECHERS USA, Inc. today announced that it raised more than $120,000 for military families through its nationwide network of SKECHERS retail stores. The 2011 fundraising drive was in support of Iraq War veteran Troy Yocum’s Hike for Heroes campaign, which raised awareness and funds for military families in need as the former soldier walked across America.

“I’m extremely grateful that SKECHERS stepped up to provide vast exposure to this important cause,” began Troy Yocum, who was joined by his wife Mareike for part of his 7,880 mile journey. “Many military families in need will benefit from the donations made by the SKECHERS Foundation and SKECHERS customers across the country – many of whom many not have known about this cause if they hadn’t been informed about the donation opportunity in SKECHERS’ retail stores.”

“Troy Yocum is an inspiration to men and women of all ages,” began Michael Greenberg, president of SKECHERS. “After bravely serving his country in Iraq, this selfless man is now devoting his life to helping the families of his fellow soldiers who risk their lives to protect our freedom. I was extremely moved by Troy’s story, and felt compelled to help his cause through SKECHERS’ vast network of retail stores. Our loyal customers felt inspired to make donations to Troy’s campaign, and we’re extremely proud that SKECHERS raised such a large amount of funds to support military families.”

The SKECHERS Foundation will make this fundraising achievement by presenting a $122,285 check to Yocum for the Active Heroes charity foundation at the footwear company’s flagship retail store in Manhattan Beach, Calif., on Thursday, January 5.

Since the Hike for Heroes campaign began in April 2010, Troy has raised more than one million dollars for the Active Heroes foundation. His journey will continue as long as U.S. military families require assistance. Troy and Mareike plan to hike another 1,500 miles in 2012 through National Forests and at special events from coast to coast, with the ultimate goal of raising $5 million to directly benefit military families in need.
