Summer has arrived! School’s out, so kids everywhere are back home and excited to play and have fun. Of course it doesn’t take long before that excitement turns into boredom and a lack of motivation prevents ideas for fresh ways to fill their time. We all know that responsibility always falls on the parents! But never fear! In celebration of the school break, we’ve put together a short list of some of our favorite activities for kids (and the entire family) to help inspire you through the summer doldrums.
- Have the kids choose a theme for the summer and create a photo album or collage around it. It’s a great long-term, ongoing activity and when completed can be cherished as a special keepsake.
- Plan a camping trip in your backyard! Bust out the tents, tell some stories, and foster your kid’s love for the outdoors without the need for travel.
- Go to the park! Whether it’s to have a picnic or to toss a Frisbee around, the park is both fun and relaxing to visit.
- Start a “small” business. Be it the good ol’ fashioned lemonade stand or another creative idea the kids come up with, it will be a great learning experience that they will be proud of.
And don’t forget SKECHERS offers the best fun footwear styles for boys and girls that will complement any of these activities. Have any tips of your own to share? Let us know in the comments!

We’re thrilled to announce that seven-time PGA Tour champion Matt Kuchar—currently ranked 5th in the world—will be the first brand ambassador and face of the Skechers GOgolf line. The multi-year partnership will feature Kuchar in a global Skechers GOgolf advertising campaign and the development of a namesake signature shoe line for the Skechers Performance Division.
Matt has been wearing Skechers GOgolf at PGA Tour events and had this to say about his footwear:
“Whether competing or practicing, I’m on my feet for hours, so the comfort and performance of my shoes is a critical factor in my success. In trying out the GOgolf line, I was really pleased both with the shoe and with the Skechers Performance Division team. Their attention to detail and expertise in performance footwear is impressive.”
As one of the most respected golfers in the sport, Kuchar’s accomplishments are noteworthy. After bursting on to the golf scene with his trademark smile at the 1998 Masters as the reigning U.S. Amateur champion, he has claimed seven titles on the PGA Tour and is a perennial fixture atop tournament leaderboards. His 2013 season was a banner year, as he earned two PGA Tour titles and helped the U.S. squad win the Presidents Cup.

We’re excited to be on board as sponsor when the thoroughbred racehorse California Chrome contends at the Belmont Stakes on June 7 to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed grabbed the title 36 years ago in 1978.
SKECHERS is a California brand, so sponsoring this horse with his uniquely California story makes perfect sense and we’re proud to associate SKECHERS with the best Triple Crown contender in several generations. As a true representative of his home state, California Chrome has already captured the hearts of America and inspired people around the world so we’re excited to be along for this amazing journey.
Owned by Perry Martin and Steve Coburn, and trained by the legendary Art Sherman at Los Alamitos Race Course, California Chrome has won six straight including the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.
Watch for SKECHERS on California Chrome’s blanket, gear and barn as well as on trainer and owner team jackets. And don’t miss the trilling race this Saturday!
We figured one Hall-of-Fame Joe wasn’t enough, so now “Broadway” Joe has joined the team of Joe “Cool” in representing Relaxed Fit from SKECHERS footwear. Set to air in Fall 2014, Joe Namath’s ad campaign will feature a new television commercial utilizing the same humorous tone as ongoing Relaxed Fit spots starring our other legendary Joe (Montana) and Mark Cuban.
We asked Joe Namath what he thinks about his upcoming commercial:
“I’ve loved what SKECHERS has done with this campaign so far and I’m excited be joining the team. The Relaxed Fit shoes really are as comfortable as they say, and I look forward to working with SKECHERS on what will be a fun commercial that my fans will enjoy.”
One of the most exciting quarterbacks in NFL history, Joe Namath entered the league after winning a national championship with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 1964. He was the first quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards and was named MVP when he led the New York Jets to victory at Super Bowl III in 1969. Namath retired in 1977 holding seasonal and career records for most games with 300 yards or more passing yards.
Stay tuned for more info on “Broadway” Joe’s new ad!

Congratulations to Skechers Performance elite athlete Meb for his victory at the 2014 Boston Marathon! Wearing the new Skechers GOmeb Speed 3 shoes, Meb ran a career best with a new personal record of 2:08:37. He was the first American male to win the Boston Marathon since 1983 and the first American overall since 1985.
After the race, Meb reflected on his historic accomplishment at the Boston Strong event:
“A year ago I decided I wanted to win the 2014 Boston Marathon for the people of Boston and for the U.S. When the Red Sox put the World Series trophy at the Boston Marathon finish line during the victory parade last year, I was inspired more than ever to come back and win. With the support of the Skechers Performance Division by my side every step of the way, this victory today belongs to the city and my country.”

We know that kids love SKECHERS light-up shoes. Whether it’s Twinkle Toes or Super Hot Lights, SKECHERS has so many ways to make shoes light up, and that makes kids happy.
We want to make everyone happy, so SKECHERS introduced Switch Lights, a simple and fun way to turn off the lights on our light-up shoes. If you’re at the movies, in the car, at school or anywhere that light-up shoes would be a distraction, simply press the on/off switch to disable the light-up function. Press again, and the shoes are ready to blink their brightest!
Switch Lights give parents a tool to put kids in control of their light-up fun. This feature helps the lights last longer as well.
