It’s wonderful when you can celebrate a milestone that supports kids around the world. Today is that day for us: since BOBS from Skechers started in 2011, we’ve officially donated more than 10 million pairs of new shoes to children in need.
Looking back at BOBS’ history, it’s thrilling and moving to absorb what an incredible impact the brand has had in just a few years. Many children have never had a pair of new shoes, or are wearing shoes that are much too small or too big for their feet. Now kids in more than 30 countries have new shoes because of your support: from boys and girls across America who gather at donation events for a pair, to children in Guatemala, Haiti, Uganda, the Philippines and beyond.
Thanks to our non-profit partners for making all of this possible, and to our retail partners for putting their stores and hearts behind BOBS in order to maximize our impact. And most of all, thanks to all of you for buying BOBS over the past few years: your generosity has made millions of children smile.
The giving continues. Let’s reach new milestones together with BOBS at skechers.com and in stores everywhere. Learn more about the BOBS story at bobsfromskechers.com and on Facebook.
As Fall 2014 arrived, and consumers started to stock up on cozy things, Skechers’ designers were already hard at work on Fall/Winter product lines for 2015. In fact, August was the start of our Fall/Winter development season. When development kicks into high gear, we’re dispatched all over the world to find the latest obsessions and market trends.
In September, I traveled with the BOBS team to Hong Kong, Beijing and several other cities in China to get inspired. We looked for new styles, details, materials and ornaments in stores, on the streets, and on local residents. Some of the most interesting ideas were found in the most inconspicuous places, such as stores in Hong Kong that were as big as the size of a typical closet in the US. With the BOBS customer in mind, we filtered through all the findings and applied our newfound inspiration to the next generation of footwear. Expect to see lots of SPARKLES next season!
One caveat, it was 90+ degrees out in the southern part of China when we visited in September. Can you imagine being in sweaters and furs while its that hot and humid? Trust me, it’s not easy. That’s why we had to get a little silly and let our imaginations go extra wild in order to think up new products for next year!
I can’t wait for you to see the results of our trip in 2015!
When the BOBS from SKECHERS program began in 2011, we wanted to do what we could to help children that needed footwear. We never expected it to become the hugely successful movement that it is today. Three short years later and we’ve crossed the NINE MILLION PAIR milestone! It’s truly incredible and we’re humbled by the impact that this program has had on children around the world. While we’re proud of the achievement, our mission continues with ongoing donation events. In fact, two events this past week in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Evansville, Indiana, resulted in over 1,200 more kids receiving a new pair of shoes. Check out the pictures from the events as we march onward to 10 million pairs donated and beyond!
By the end of summer, SKECHERS will have thrown 20 events with 13 different key accounts, providing more than 97,000 pairs to children in need across the United States so far in 2014. Recent or soon to happen events include Indianapolis seen in the video above with 1,000 pairs donated at the Colts training facility; a huge 27,500 pair donation at the Detroit Zoo; 1,376 pairs in Cumberland, MD; as well as fun events for kids featuring shoe decorating, snacks and more in Sacramento, Jacksonville, and Naples, FL. Additionally, the first international account event was held in Winnipeg, Canada in May with 3,000 pairs donated to kids. All told, over 8.7 million pairs have been donated around the globe since 2011. Make a difference for kids with BOBS!
We recently partnered with Shoe Carnival and K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers to donate new shoes to students in need across Puerto Rico and Lubbock, Texas. More than 13,000 pairs of BOBS from Skechers were distributed at a series of special end of school year events. That makes over 57,000 shoes donated to date with Shoe Carnival alone and overall more than eight million pairs since BOBS launched in 2011. Everywhere we went, the kids were excited and had a chance to decorate and personalize their new shoes. These local events truly exemplify the power of the BOBS movement and illustrate the power we have to create positive impact on the world around us. Check out the video to catch a heartwarming look at what happened.
On May 16, BOBS from SKECHERS traveled to Santa Rosa, California to donate 1,000 pairs of shoes to the children of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County, Head Start/Early Head Start, and School Readiness programs in Sonoma County. Children gathered to receive a pair of BOBS and even had a chance to decorate them! The inspired and excited kids were able to use their imagination to create fun, personalized, fresh-looking shoes.
We love when our events inspire others to reach out to their community. In Santa Rosa, one local dentist joined in on the philanthropy by donating toothbrushes to the youth. No matter the product or event, we appreciate those who seek to create positive change in the world. That is why we want to say thank you to all the BOBS supporters! Whether you’re purchasing another pair of BOBS or simply giving back in your own way, we could not reach the milestone of more than 8 million pairs donated worldwide without your help.

This Spring, SKECHERS is partnering with Bealls department stores and Fashion Delivers/K.I.D.S. to donate 27,000 pairs of BOBS shoes throughout Pensacola, Florida. The first giveaway launched on January 24 with a donation event for 350 children in need hosted by Children’s Home Society of Florida. The afternoon included shoe decorating activities, music, snacks and a special visit from characters who posed for fun photos with the children. In the coming months, Children’s Home Society will continue to distribute BOBS shoes across the Pensacola region.
Thank you to all our customers who have purchased BOBS. This simple act is helping thousands of children in need across the U.S. Because of you, we have also reached more than six million pairs of shoes donated worldwide!
