SKECHERS outfits the world with more than 3000 lifestyle and performance footwear styles for men, women and kids.

Legendary New York closer Mariano Rivera may have retired in 2013 but the future Hall of Famer still has his head in the game as the latest Skechers sports icon representing Relaxed Fit! We were on the scene last month during Rivera’s debut Skechers commercial shoot at a stadium just outside New York City.

Check out this behind the scenes video to hear Mariano’s advice for young players who are passionate about succeeding in the sport.

And here’s a sneak peek of the new fun spot starring Mariano that will premiere during tonight’s All Star game airing on FOX.  It takes a lot of work to break in a new glove. Relaxed Fit footwear from Skechers includes a soft Skechers Memory Foam insole that feels comfortable instantly without any break in period at all!

Are you ready for some fun insight from the shoot? As you could tell in Mariano’s behind-the-scenes interview, the ground is wet in the stadium! While a bit of light rain was always in the forecast, we didn’t expect the torrential downpour that the skies unleashed upon our set that day. It might have ended up being a literal wash if not for some quick thinking by our writers, crew and Mariano himself. The iconic pitcher knew how to stay relaxed during the delay and we built a second fun spot around that concept that you’ll see soon.

Check out the shoes on our website and watch for more from Rivera and Relaxed Fit in the months ahead!

Want to see what previous civilizations lived like? From Cambodia’s Angkor Archaeological Park to Peru’s Inca Trail and Macchu Picchu to The Parthenon in Greece, there are scores of incredible relics dotting the world that will take you back hundreds and thousands of years. Check out UNESCO’s incredible World Heritage List to get an idea of all the places you can discover.

Because of their Arctic Circle locales, regions like Alaska, Canada and Scandinavia have a smaller warm weather window – making the summer months absolutely gorgeous and the best time to visit. Want to live in a world where the day never ends? Travel up to small towns like Barrow in Alaska, where you can experience their 82-day stretch of sun until it finally sets again on August 2.

If your style is less roughing it and more lapping up luxury, find a posh resort and grab the next ticket to Hawaii, The Caribbean, Seychelles, Fiji, Costa Rica, Thailand – the list goes on. Destinations like Maldives and Turks and Caicos are great for scuba diving and exploring the underwater world. Want to stay close to the mainland? Great islands line both coasts, each with their own unique personality – from the wild horses of Georgia’s Cumberland Island to festive Avalon on California’s Catalina Island.

It’s high season for the great outdoors, and there are a million places to venture: coasts, mountain ranges and everywhere in between. From the Great Smoky Mountains to Canyonlands, caves to great plains and rocky ocean cliffs, there’s a vast, beautiful land waiting for you to explore. and ReserveAmerica have tons of ideas that will inspire you.

Got kids? Amusement parks are always booming in the summer and are guaranteed to keep you and the little ones entertained. Pack the car, take a road trip and make the journey your destination. Even those who have to stay in their hometown can turn every weekend into their own staycation: day tripping to local aquariums, water parks and more.

Do you have your reds, whites and blues ready for the big celebrations this weekend?  From bikinis to tees and shorts to hats and yes even footwear, this is the best time to show off your pride with stars and stripes in the most creative ways possible.  Some have the skills to pull off this once-a-year look perfectly, but even the tackiest combinations of these All-American colors get a pass on the Fourth of July.  It’s a day when we’re understandably focused on picnics, barbecues, and all sorts of gatherings with family and friends where we enjoy good food, better drinks and…of course…fireworks!

What kind of red, white and blue look will you be rocking on Saturday…or any other day this long weekend? Let us know in the comments and if you have a cool patriotic outfit that features red, white and/or blue Skechers, we want to see it!  Don’t forget to tag @skechers on Instagram or post to our facebook page!

Break out the bag: it’s summer, and we’ve got places to go! Whether you’re weekending for a three-day holiday celebration or taking that trip of a lifetime, here’s a list to help get you inspired – from the obvious to the easily overlooked.

The basics. Wallet, keys, passport, itinerary, cell phone, charger. Miss these and you won’t get very far out of town. Going abroad? Call your credit cards and give them a heads-up, so there are no surprises when they lock up your ATM card for suspicious foreign activities. See if your cell phone company lets you make calls outside of the US; if not, an unlocked phone can be used with local SIM cards to dodge the sticker shock that most companies charge. Also check the country’s voltage in case an adapter is needed.

It’s in the bag. The right or wrong ones can make or break your trip. Luggage for the big stuff. Bathroom kits that can unzip with a million compartments (bonus for the hook that hangs in the shower stall). A tote or backpack for your day treks. Overstuffed your suitcase? An adjustable strap can keep your bag together when your zipper doesn’t. Plus an extra bag: fold it up, stuff it in and you’ll have options. For laundry, gifts and those souvenirs you’ll never use.

A real camera. As great as your phone is, sometimes an SRL captures it even better. A must-have for serious snappers who want to get right up to that grizzly without actually being there. Plus a GoPro for action enthusiasts.

The Skechers. We’ve got this part covered. Sandals for the beaches of Phuket, boots for tramping the Milford Track, cushioned memory foam casuals for walking the cobblestones in Paris. Wherever you trek, we’ve got your style.

Layer up. Plan to weather the unexpected with light shirts, insulating layers, warm tops, windbreakers and jackets. Your favorite swimsuit (and a towel if you need it). Packing light? Convertible pants unzip into shorts in a snap. Dressing up? Take something wrinkle-resistant and roll them to keep them looking like new.

Lara packing

Beautify. Look great in your Instagram pics (and make your friends at home jealous) with a beauty kit that will keep you clean, moisturized and ready to rock. Dodge the sun with Peter Thomas Roth sunscreen, and grab extra contacts, glasses and solution if you need them.

The meds. Take it from someone who went rogue at a Peruvian farmacia and lived to regret it: bring meds you’re familiar with and don’t experiment when you get sick. Both prescription and non, in case the unexpected happens.

Be well read. DK Eyewitness Travel books (and basic foreign phrases) for the love-to-know-it-alls. Fiction fantasies for great escapists. Tabloids for the shamelessly curious. Get the tomes in your local shop or online where the options are way greater than the airport bookstore.

Snooze it. Do some time out on the plane with a little R&R: a pillow, ear plugs, eye mask and cush pair of socks can do wonders. Make your own personalized kit and show first class what they’re missing.

Accessorize. Give your trip some style and sizzle with a wide-brimmed sun hat. Sunglasses. A scarf that can be used to compartmentalize your items when you’re not wearing it on the gondola.

I feel like summer is the season that always seems to end too soon. With scheduled obligations like weddings and social engagements already etched into my calendar, it’s important to make a list of the TOP FIVE things I want to…no MUST…do before the cooler days of autumn return.

Santa Monica

This seems almost silly considering I live an easy ten-minute walk from the Southern California coastline. (What can I say, it’s where Skechers HQ is located and I hate to commute!)  The problem is when you have a resource that’s so amazing at your footstep, it’s easy to say, “we’ll go tomorrow.” Tomorrow becomes next week.  Next week becomes next month.  Next month becomes, “It’s October now?!”  Not everyone lives near a beach, but there is always something amazing in your neighborhood or town that is easy to overlook.

Whether it be summer stock theater, a sculpture exhibition or a craft artist fair, this time of year is ripe with cultural events that are fun, interesting and often inspiring.  My problem is I always seem to learn about these things after the fact, so I am vowing to get through Summer ’15 without becoming jealous hearing about all the cool events I missed.  One of my favorites that I haven’t done in many years is Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, CA.  It’s an amazing experience where performers bring paintings to life.

We all get set in our ways. It’s easy to rely on the old standby every time you get hungry. But there’s a handful of intriguing restaurants in my neighborhood I’ve never visited and an endless number more around the city. Summer is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try something new just because you can. You might even bump the old standby down a few notches and that’s OK! The barbecue joint in the next town over you always drive by…stop in and have a bite!

It’s always nice to get out and explore nature. I have some favorite trails that I love to hike around the LA area and the variety of options is astounding. Whether I want a short cardio trek somewhere like Temescal Canyon (link) or a longer adventure to the 10,000 foot summit of Mt. Baldy there’s always something to meet my needs.  It’s all about the spirit of adventure and I plan to push farther into some wilderness areas where I’ve never set foot before. Even if hiking isn’t your thing, there are adventures to be had everywhere.

I save this one for last as it’s dependent on the other four.  At this point in my life, schedules are so busy that I have to make an appointment with myself to sit back and work on personal creative endeavors.  Be it writing, painting, or anything, creative expression is the best kind of stress relief on Earth. From the beach to art to food to the mountains, I look everywhere for inspiration. And if these things provide me with the fuel to write a new story, take photographs I’m proud to share, or craft a cool piece of work on canvas, then I’ll be happy to call the summer of 2015 a total success.

What are your must do activities for this summer?  Let us know in the comments!
